Paul has enjoyed a fulfilling career in technology & media M&A for over thirty years where he has managed over 100 tech & media transactions totalling c.£1Bln.

Paul subsequently co-founded two TMT M&A practices: The St James Partnership in 1992 and subsequently Fusion in 2002 to focus on TMT transactions.

To further fuel his passion for media & tech, Paul founded an incubator in 2000 and he continues to actively advise early stage startups on investment strategies and M&A.
Ifti Akbar channels his abilities in the disruptive world of tech, where he arbitrates technology sales and acquisitions.
With his entrepreneurial mind-set, Ifti always looks for creative ways to disrupt the status quo, which lead to co-founding Fuse3 Venture Debt Brokerage, that his partner Russell Lerman heads up and boasts being the leading brokerage in venture debt for tech companies.
In 2006, Ifti and Russell first joined forces to oversee the then start-up Envido, as the Co-managing director. They took it from a bootstrapping self-funded start-up to a multimillion pound company which they then sold to Scottish Equity Partners backed business Vital Energi, seven years later.
One of Ifti’s first projects found him running the technology focused arm of Adecco in 2002, where he was given the task of launching their new brand People Direct across the UK and Central Eastern Europe. He grew the 4-man team to six branches including setting up offices in CEE that held clients such as Citi Group, CMC Markets, PWC, SCEE and more.
With a commercial background in TMT, Paul specialises in business sales and restructuring.
Paul has had an impressive range of senior management roles since the 90’s that include Thomson Reuters, Euromoney Institutional Investor, Mintel and BreakingViews. He also founded (and later sold) technology company Data Communications and has worked in and with several tech start-ups.
Paul has worked as an M&A advisor for the past 12 years. His passion for tech sees him actively working with private clients selling their businesses, corporate clients making divestitures and with private equity clients looking to exit portfolio businesses.
Russell is an entrepreneur who left school at 16 with few qualifications and spent his early years working working in the automotive industry, culminating in completing a large sale & leaseback deal at the age of 20. This followed a move into the IT sector in early 2000 and from 2004 – 2006 a 2 year period living and working in Asia.
At the age of 21 Russell started his property investment activities, which he still maintains today. And in 2014, Russell advised NHS CFO’s on off-balance sheet debt finance to fund ESCO projects.
In 2006, Russell and Ifti Akbar first joined forces to oversee the then carbon reduction start-up, Envido, as Managing Director. They took it from a bootstrapping self-funded start-up to a multimillion pound company which they then sold to Scottish Equity Partners backed business Vital Energi, seven years later. Securing debt played a big part for Russell & Ifti achieving their exit and the idea to create Fuse3 was born.
With this in mind, he teamed up with Ifti Akbar, to co-found and run the successful technology debt brokerage, Fuse3, where he has successfully secured loans between £1m – £10m for over 200 companies in the last 5 years.
He is passionate about technology businesses whether VC backed or owner managed and believes that with the correct funding, anything is possible.
